BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 30, 2022) – Retail Strategies, the leading national retail recruitment firm, is partnering with Okanogan County, Washington, and the Economic Alliance to deliver Retail Academy. Fourteen communities within the county and on the Colville Indian Reservation will be participating in Retail Academy, made possible by American Rescue Plan funds. The event will take place on October 18 in Omak, Washington where community leaders will be educated on best practices to attract new retail and restaurants and receive resources to support and grow existing businesses.

The Economic Alliance and Okanogan County are excited about hosting this comprehensive program that will help our county, city, and tribal leaders learn how to recruit retail businesses, understand the current gaps within their local small business community and where leakage is occurring,” said Roni Holder-Diefenbach, Okanogan County’s executive director for the Economic Alliance. “This event will give us the resources, knowledge, and motivation we need to speak proactively to retailers and other industry professionals about our communities. We look forward to learning from real estate professionals about the retail and other business potential in our market. “

Retail Academy arms local leaders with the necessary tools to continue supporting retail and restaurant businesses while attracting new retail. The Retail Academy program provides data, retail insight, real estate training, and easy steps to follow in implementing what the city leaders will learn while attending.

“Okanogan County is taking an important step in identifying their consumer make-up through the data they’ll receive through Retail Academy,” said Matthew Tate, director of business development of the Western Region for Retail Strategies. “The county leadership is focusing on business attraction and retention, and we’re honored they chose us as their partner.”

“The Retail Academy program will give county and city leadership the ability to share important demographic and psychographic information and property-specific data that retailers need to see when making informed location decisions,” said Madeline Farr, director of Retail Academy. “Not only will our team provide that data, but more importantly, we’ll teach attendees how to and when to use the data to make retail happen in their cities.”
